LIKES
- Milk Tea and Honey Buns || Signature drink, signature snack, she will always be happy with these in hand (and often has a honeybun in her bag at all times).
- Sunshowers || Singing in the rain is amazing, but sunshowers can make her life in one single moment.
Expect her to go out running at these times. - Crime shows || The thrill of figuring out the mystery before it’s revealed is far too amazing!
- Wordplay || A guilty pleasure that she’s weak to, playing on a person’s words or something silly like puns can get her smiling like a nerd.
- Physical Affection || Headpats? Arm holding? Anything is perfect for this touch-starved girly.
- Collecting Trinkets || Nail polishes, phone charms, tiny mascots. She keeps them all hidden away in random drawers.
- "Getting Lost" || A childish term for urban exploring and going on walks, she tends to enjoy doing this during tiny moments where she’s completely free.
DISLIKES
- Domineering Individuals || She’s got enough people throwing hissy fits when she steps out of their ideals, she honestly doesn’t need more.
- Eggplants || She has an almost irrational hate for eggplants thanks to a stunt her elder brother pulled when they were kids.
- Incoherent Noises || Not only does it end up stressing her out to no end, but it messes with her ears to the point that the sound will linger far after.
- Visual Kei Fashion / Music || While she appreciates almost every form of music outlets and the like, it seems like she avoids Visual Kei entirely...Even being a bit hesitant with similar fashion styles
- Humid Weather || She was raised in a place where the humidity levels were pretty even, so she’s especially weak to it and will openly complain.
- Fussing || Needless fussing over her, rather than bringing you closer, will often turn her off completely. She’s really only tolerant and appreciative of it when feeling mutually close with a person.
- Twitter Wars || Nuf said
PERSONALITY
Sanguine | Adaptive | Altruistic | FamiliarReckless | Chronic Workaholic | Hypocritical | Secretive
Riku is a personable being, through and through -- a social, lighthearted and familiar girl by nature, it’s no wonder why one would characterize her as a ‘summertime sweetheart’. You’ll never see her without a smile on her lips, a person with a naturally comforting air who prides herself in being a companion one can be at ease around. She’s a verbally (and physically, if you allow it) affectionate individual who is appreciative with the littlest thing when it comes to a person or thing, leading many to pin her as an easily satisfied person. Her almost endless amount of patience allows her to be quite content for slowburn acquaintances and fast friends alike.
Lively, kind, warm. Yes, she could very well be the sun on a clear day...Or maybe an excitable puppycat, depending on your views.
Sadly, her social success doesn’t save her from horrible study habits, faulty recklessness and stubbornness that rears it’s head at the most inopportune times--along with a loyalty streak that tends to get her into a bit of a tiff, every now and again. She’s most definitely a workaholic who doesn’t seem to know how to quit, often running herself up a wall while trying to make it seem effortless to keep up appearances -- as idols should, often putting her future before many other aspects of her life. And as idols should be, Riku is almost highly critical of herself, which is surprising considering her almost lax expectations of others-- putting a genuine meaning of ‘you’re your best and worst critic’. As stated before, she tends to allow others to think what they like about her, often causing her to appear to be an enigma once putting puzzle pieces together. She's found herself quite hard to keep people close, definitely the type to be friends with everyone, yes, but close to no one. And as an idol, she belongs to everyone -- but belongs to no one. This is something she has accepted, in all honesty.
Under that bright, almost idealized outer shell of hers, Riku is quite the insightful person, matured at a young age. Passively aware of her surroundings at a constant, she takes it upon herself to handle things in a plausible, almost comforting manner. Her vast imagination and simplistic ways of explaining things may make her seem naive or delicate to the world, in truth, Riku does know far more than she lets on---though almost never steps out of bounds, even when she should. The restraint and patience she shows has shown to be a double edged blade, just like her loyalty. While physically on the delicate side and popular opinion suggesting that she is a weakly naive individual, what she lacks in body she makes up for with mental and emotional strength that could surpass many.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Born into a lower-middleclass situation with Phlox, she hit the ground running as the youngest of three to two freshly divorced parents. She hadn’t come from the closest family, not in the slightest -- with a father constantly running around the country and mother a distant socialite, the kids grew up with diverging paths and personalities -- Riku learning to become independent by default just like her brothers. Though, while they seemed to grow into their own, Riku stayed in the background, a precocious little thing who didn’t seem to set a foot into gaining friends her age. Yet, that child thrived as a lively young girl, her own source of enthusiasm as she ignored isolation. She ignored what was ignoring her, passing the days obediently silent in class while being folly within her mind. Even now, it seems like long-time schoolmates would be confused about comments of being in their classes as children, due to her little presence and lack of participation. Yes, that kind of hurts a little, but what can you do?
The lack of social life and interpersonal friendships, through, gave way to growth in ‘not reality’, starting with uploading cover songs through the encouragement of her grandmother. She’d said she wanted to be a singer when she was a tiny thing, right? Why not spend time with such an outlet...? Though bringing it up to family members was received with confused, if not downright shutting down any thought of it’s productiveness, her brother bought her a microphone as a present to get started. And so, throughout middle school, she didn’t mind the lack of friends, as she giggled at funny interactions between netmade friends and fans. The feedback, the words of praise or harsh critiques, and heartfelt conversations late at night, all encouraged her to continue. Oh, how amazing it was to her, to hear that her voice could make one person happy, let alone more than one!
So she will make every single one of them proud. She will be on that stage singing to them all, one day! That future made her nearly radiated with inspiration, it was almost blinding.
In ‘reality’, Highschool seemed to be a bit better at a social standpoint. She made friends, watch them come and go. Being reached out toward, and reaching out did leave some things to be undesired, but loved. With each new experience she felt, saw or heard, she grew stronger---and poured every drop into her music. While life continued with it’s ups and downs, the only stability she had within her life was her growing career.
What started as online covers dabbled into uploading original content, then getting accounts for social media to remain in contact with the mass that was slowly growing larger and larger. Joining some online singing groups, becoming the lyricist or collaborating with others...Even doing a few cam live streams, stage appearances and promotions, once she had enough courage to do a face reveal. She was a teenage busybody and appreciated most, when no one else would. Yes, she overworked herself, teetered between being burnt out or stressed to the max, but she strove forward nonetheless. After all, her work distracted her from anything that could happen--from stress, to heartbreak--and her fans gobbled her content up gladly, happily. As her notoriety within the internet grew, so did her being recognized among a few individuals within her tiny Country of a home--especially after her face reveal in Sophmore year. This was only the beginning of her realization of just how far she’d come...and honestly, it urged her forward.
Yes, there was pressure to deliver. Pressure to act a certain way, to be a certain way, else she could be attacked with black and white words on a screen...And, in a way, in reality as well. But that’s alright, that’s alright. She’s already used to this tightrope of a career, she can handle it.
But in her mother’s eyes, none of it was real. None of the comments, the views or support, were going to help with anything. Even as a child, she wouldn’t praise Riku’s success...And now that she’s graduating high school, it was even less so. The noise was ridiculous, her talking to strangers was ridiculous, getting random money (though appreciative of it) was creepy and shady. Each day, the pressure to quit playing around, delete her accounts and get serious about getting a job was drilled into her back, her mother’s obvious disapproval (and some family’s more secretive head shakes) weighing down on her chest more than some troll attacking her online ever could.
And so, she became the adult her mother wanted. Graduation happened and packing up her things, she left without much approval from anyone under that house, moving into her eldest brother’s apartment and dipping into the money she’d saved up from work for rent. Finally free from a stifling home life, Riku eventually left her brother’s apartment and settled within Larkspur, proceeding to go forward with stride. Don’t mind, don’t mind. Disappointment or hardship, nothing’s going to distract her from reaching the hearts of the masses who are willing to listen.
Though, the alien invasion is shaking things up quite a bit!
