BIRTH DATE
July 15

LIKES
- Books, nothing like a good story to get your mind off things. Pop in some ear plugs and it’s like no one else exists.
- Sitcoms, what isn’t there to like about a good sitcom? He can binge for hours if he’s got the time.
- Sunrises, there’s something about the sun breaking over the horizon that puts him at ease. Especially after a long night, the sun is a welcoming sight. Likes to be up before dawn and be up to see the sunrise.
DISLIKES
- Caffeine, coffee in particular. He enjoys the smell but never really got used to the taste. Besides sleeping is the best way to get your energy back anyway.
- Crowded spaces, Camden doesn’t dislike people, but he doesn’t like the feeling of being suffocated and that’s how he feels when he’s in a crowd. Despite his height, he still feels like he’s being caged in by other bodies when he’s in a sea of people.
PERSONALITY
Tries to keep to himself more than anything. He’s more than happy to listen to others, but when it comes to talking about himself he’d just rather not. Camden doesn’t find himself particularly interesting anyway, at this point in his life he’s just on cruise control. After college, he’s found that taking it easy is a lot more enjoyable than stressing himself out everyday just because he’s worried about what other people think.
He used to care a lot about what people thought of him and that always got him wound up. But lately he’s realized no one’s really even going to think twice about him anyway so it doesn’t matter what he does.. Or so he likes to think. Every now and then he’ll still get self conscious about something and shut people out. He doesn’t mean to come off as abrasive when it comes down to that, but he doesn’t really know how to express himself. So keeping people at a distance is easier than stumbling over his own words. It’s backfired on him more than once, he’s been told he told that he’s intimidating and unapproachable, which is far from what he sees himself as.. He knows not to take it to heart but it doesn’t feel good to know that’s what some people think about him.
When he’s not going through a “everyone will think I’m an idiot” phase, Camden enjoys the company of others to an extent. He’ll be happy to listen to people talk on and on, but he has a limit just like any other person, except he doesn’t have the heart to tell people that. For some reason, because he’s willing to be a sounding board for other people, he’s prone to having them over share.. He knows way too many things about the regulars at the flower shop. Camden can probably tell your which salary man is having an affair and who recently got their botox redone. It’s not like he wants to know this information, it just gets thrown at him and it just stays in his mind.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Attention made him nervous when he was younger, he knows what happens when too many people pay attention to you, it happens on TV all the time. Too much attention makes for bad juju. While he knew what he saw on TV didn’t always have a truth to it, he couldn’t help but relate what he saw on the screen to reality.
So he did what he knew best and imitated what he saw in his favorite shows, or so he tried to. There had to be a scene from some show that Camden could copy, no matter what situation he found himself in, right? Wrong. Camden made a fool out of himself every single time he tried to relay what he saw on screen to reality. It was a god send for him when his family decided to move to Phlox. His grandfather recently passed away and Camden’s parents wanted to make sure his grandmother wasn’t left alone, so it was off to Phlox for the de Leon family. With the move, he vowed to stay as low key as possible. No more imitating what he saw on the big screen. No more making an idiot out of himself.
Staying out of sight was near impossible, but staying off anyone’s radar was pretty easy. It wasn’t that Camden didn’t like people, it was just that he preferred to be alone. Camden wanted nothing more than to be a lowkey, invisible, a fly on the wall. But being six-foot something, makes that a little bit difficult, everyone at school managed to point him out from a mile away. So much for laying low.. He managed to skate through high school with little incident.. although there was one time that he’d rather just repress. It never happened. If you don’t talk about it, don’t think about it, it probably never happened in the first place.
In college Camden flourished. It was where he could spend time alone and people wouldn’t think anything of it, to them he was just another college kid cramming. His time was spent burying his nose in books, enjoying stories and from all over the world. Enjoying literature meant he could immerse himself in different worlds, different cultures and see everything through the eyes of other people. All these adventures fictional or not inspired him to write his own. He took to writing what he could for the school paper, advice columns, short stories, whatever he could just to get experience.
After graduating college, Camden wanted to take time off. He wanted to explore the world for himself to experience what he read in books, then he’d have stories just as exciting to tell when he came home. Unfortunately that didn’t pan out. His parents needed him to stay and help take care of his grandmother and brother when they couldn’t, leaving Phlox just wasn’t in his cards. He wasn’t going to complain about that, the world would always be there for him to explore, but he was a bit disappointed.
During college he managed to find a part time job at a flower shop and after college, that part time job turned into full time. Him staying in Phlox was perfect for the owners of the store, who were struggling to find someone that was competent and willing to stay with them more than a month at a time. They weren’t hard to work with, but they were just very particular about how they wanted to run their shop. Camden had no issue with complying, things were better when he had a bit of structure in his life. His life quickly fell into pattern working at the shop full time doing the same tasks day in and day out. Suddenly not being able to travel was the least of his problems. Now his problems were along the lines of, would the roses be ready for next week’s wedding or who the f**k arranged these bouquets, they look awful.
Falling into a routine, Camden felt things were going well for him. He wasn’t making big bucks or traversing the world, but he was still happy. Suddenly things around Phlox were starting to get weird. He didn’t mean, weird as in that kid from Acacia College totally stopped going his usual route to school, the same route he’s been going for the past 4 months, or something as mundane as that. But aliens? What kind of stupid s**t is that? The ladies that came in to chat, or pretty much drop this week’s juicy gossip told him that aliens?? Were in Phlox? Camden knew where to draw the line between his shows and reality but, he was really starting to question what he considered to be normal now. It took him a while to come to terms with aliens being in town but, that was the new normal now. Right?
EXTRAS
- Loves binging shows. He can tell you what’s happening in this season’s medical drama and which actor is probably being kicked off the show.
- He’s an early bird. Gets up early before sunrise to get either a workout or a quick run before he has to open shop.
- His apartment is immaculate, he likes to keep things in order. Has a set routine he follows every night he comes home, as long as he follows it everything stays in place.
- Writes articles on the side sometimes for some extra cash. Working in a flower shop doesn’t really rake in the money and he’s gotta pay the bills somehow. Plus there’s enough downtime working in the store that he can find the time to write.
