“Despite being a pawnshop, there are SOME limitations of what I accept. But perhaps you can convince me...”
NAME
Harper Wolf
AGE
Twenty nine
GENDER
Female
BIRTH DATE
October 29th
OCCUPATION
Pawn shop manager (Loan Shark) [Harper manages the sales and upkeep of a local Pawn shop owned by an older couple too senile to function. She uses the back office to sell small loans to clients.]
LIKES
Old people. Surprisingly, Harper has an extreme soft spot for the elderly. Being so close with her grandparents showed her how truly wise and insightful someone much older can be. While she can still see their faults, she will respect and go out of her way to help an older citizen if she sees them struggling.
Teasing her little brothers. Being the eldest sibling comes with the natural born right (or so Harper says) of teasing your younger siblings. Anything from capturing them in a headlock, to snatching their dates and taking them out herself. She’s very fond of them, but boy will she go lengths to make their life a little more difficult (all out of love, of course!).
Beverages of all variety. A frequent patron of her local cafe trying every drink at least once, though Harper’s usually partial to a simple black coffee after she’s tried it all. She’s tried to make her own drinks before, but it usually ends up with something burning…
Going out and meeting people!! Harper is very outgoing and extroverted. She loves to go on outings, especially outdoors, doing hiking or camping. Though she is equally content going out on the town to crash bars and clubs.
DISLIKES
Rainy days… Rain means less customers, and no going out. It usually puts a damper on Harper’s mood, and she gets irritated.
Bratty little kids. There is nothing more infuriating than a kid coming into the store and TOUCHING absolutely EVERYTHING with their grimy little paws and sticking it in their mouths. Clearly having five signs that say “do not touch!” was not enough.
“No, I won’t buy your grandfather’s used dentures.” when will people stop treating this pawn shop like a dump!! How many times do I have to tell you people! Just because it was your grandparent’s, doesn’t mean it’s worth anything!
Rachel. I get you’re a bored housewife who has a shopping addiction. I get it. But seriously. Take your useless bought on tv appliances that can literally only do ONE THING somewhere else.
Whales. She has an absolute, unwavering, crippling fear of whales. All kinds of whales. As a child she saw them when her family took a trip to Victoria island by ferry, and watched, in terror, an orca hunt a seal. Needless to say, the experience left a lasting impression... She still refuses to swim in the ocean to this day.
PERSONALITY
Passionate, hard working, determined, outgoing, friendly, caring, dotingBoyish, aggressive, competitive, sweet talkerHard headed, stubborn, sly, manipulative, impulsive, intrusive, cocky
Some of the frequent customers of the pawn shop will tell you with strong conviction, that Harper Wolf was possibly born to do this job. A little too well considering many have been guilty of walking out of the store with strange knick knacks that they really didn’t want 10 minutes ago. A persuasive sweet talker and friendly with a big smile to boot makes everyone who walks in feel comfortable to spend their time browsing around the shop. Her talkative open nature makes it easy to speak freely with her, and you feel like you’ve been friends for years! But that’s how she gets you hook, line and sinker. She knows exactly how to talk something up to make it seem positively irresistible. And unlucky for you, she isn’t one to back down from a challenge. Who knew you absolutely NEEDED this cucumber slicer? She’s out here talking about your cucumber salad that’s going to be the RAGE at the next barbeque, so you really do need it, don’t you?
Despite her usually pushy and manipulative ways she gets a sale, she is extremely sensitive and caring to those who she deems are worthy of a close relationship. A prime example being Mr. and Mrs. White, the couple who owns the Pawn Shop. The couple live in the apartment above the shop, and Harper makes a case and point to aid and make their life comfortable and treats them like her own grandparents. Once a week she’ll have dinner with the couple (she’s learned to make simple meals), and report how the store is doing. She feels the same towards her younger brothers, though it’s not secret that her forms of affection to those younger than her can be a little bit… More aggressive (gentle bullying). Even so, she will go out of her way to help out her siblings and those close to her. Picking you up at the airport? Got it. But don’t think she won’t show up with an embarrassing sign. Stuck at home sick with the flu? She’s got the soup, but get ready to watch a marathon of some god awful old movies.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Harper never really liked the Pacific Northwest. She and her brothers were raised outside of the city of Seattle, where it would rain. Almost all the time. Rain meant no going outside and playing, and spending time with her nanny who she wasn’t the most fond of. There wasn’t much to do, torturing her brothers could truly only entertain her for so long. The home they were raised in was a large estate, shared with her fraternal grandparents. Her nanny had always strictly forbidden her (with directions from her parents) to bother her grandfather when they were kept inside during rainy days. Of course, being the rebellious and obstinate child that she was, one day had found her way into her grandfathers study. Her grandfather was pleasantly surprised by the company, and offered to read her a book while the rain pattered down. And with that exchange, the two had become fast friends. Story time during rainy days became a regular thing, and when he ran out of stories from books, he would tell her stories of his adventures in his youth.
Harper grew up admiring her grandfather, cherishing the close and genuine bond they shared. Both of her parents were constantly busy working, so her friendship with her grandfather almost felt parental. He mentored her during her days at school, encouraged her interests and passion for sports, regularly attending all her games. As her grandfather grew older, Harper volunteered to help take care of him when it was needed instead of her parents hiring another nurse or caretaker. She resented her father for not spending time with them and instead buying others time to take care of them instead. Her grandfather tried to tell her it was to provide for his family, he was doing what he had to. But Harper refused to listen to his excuses. What was more important than his family?
It was a hard day when her grandfather passed away. She was in her senior year of University, and she had known the day was coming, but it didn’t make it any easier to accept. Her graduation was only a few weeks away, but she rushed home to be there for the funeral. The loss had shaken her more than anything, the guiding light in her life had been snuffed out. Amidst her mourning, she was approached by her grandfathers attorney after the funeral. Harper had been left the majority of the inheritance in her grandfather’s will.
Harper knew what she needed to do. Her grandfather had always encouraged her to follow her own path, and that’s what she decided to do. After graduation, she wrote a short letter to her family that she was going her own way, and please not to look for her. She moved to the other side of the country, changed her name, and settled in a small town named Phlox. It was the opposite of everything she grew up with. A small town with just the bare minimum, in the middle of nowhere.
Harper still wasn’t exactly sure what she wanted to do, her future was still a gray unknown. She looked through the newspaper ads, and browsed through the small stores of Phlox… Just about ready to call her big plan of seeking her new meaning a dud before she spotted an old couple struggling with a sign of their store across the street from where she was sitting. She managed to help the elderly couple put the sign up for their pawn shop, and was instantly charmed by them. They were an odd pair, Forrest and Mable White. Warm, welcoming, and exuberant for their age. The three of them got talking, and had kindly invited Harper in to have dinner together. Their energy had reminded Harper of her grandfather’s stories, and their lightheartedness was charming. They had mentioned that they weren’t doing well with the sales of their shop, and rent was getting too expensive. With a surge of confidence, Harper interjected that she could help them. That’s what a business degree was for, right? More or less? Her outburst had surprised the two, but with a laugh they both accepted her help. It may not be a long term job, but she wanted to help, it was just the first new challenge of a new life.
Over the next several years, Harper essentially was running the pawn shop on her own. Managing the finances, and with her smooth tongue, making sales was easy. And it gave her an excellent location for a personal business plan she had been thinking about. Harper had a small fortune to her name, and what better way to use that money than loan it out and make more money? Pawn shops and loans went hand in hand, so Harper couldn’t have dreamed of a better set up.
So far, things have been growing pretty nicely for Harper. She revived a dying business, picked up some new grandparents, and her new business as a loan dealer was panning out well. And now the arrival of some strange, new visitors… Perhaps she could pawn of some junk as ancient human relics.
