Larkspur City

As a somewhat-bustling somewhat-metropolis, Larkspur City has surprising roots as the Larkspur trading post en route from the Printy Paper Mill. It has since blossomed into the closest thing Printy County has to a full-fledged city, thanks to its beneficial location along County Road 4, and it's ever growing population makes it an attractive location for adults looking to be in the center of the action. With a few blocks of semi-skyscrapers, apartment buildings, office buildings, and large shopping complexes, it encapsulates the inner city environment-- especially at night, when the streets are dyed in bright blue neon lights.

Relatively safe, the streets are surprisingly pedestrian-friendly-- even if the traffic signals for crossing streets are infamously slow in changing. It's a better alternative than the alleyways, especially considering a debatably tame slime Gru may come crawling out from a dumpster at any time, and the sidewalks have proven to be well-maintained even in strange alien-induced weather. The same can't be said for the local roadway infrastructure, however, as it's always been rather neglected due to the difficulty and costs needed to replace roadways always in constant use. As such it's unwittingly created a confusing layout of one ways and roundabouts, and now roadways tend to jam quickly. Even worse, if local residents needed even more problems, traffic has become even worse since the invasion, thanks to the aliens' choice to purposedfully ignore adhering to SIMPLE, EASY TO UNDERSTAND, STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE GOSH DARN LANE YOU BLOB EYED BEAK TRICKLER-- er, traffic laws.

Despite Larkspur housing the Silo Tower, the major human stronghold, Larkspur is easily the part Printy County most affected by the invasion. Especially considering that it contains primarily big, corporate-owned businesses, the majority of which have been bought out by and placed under the control of the Gru. If one is looking to get mixed up in the company of the invaders, Larkspur is probably the most relatively-safe and best place to do it.

NOTABLE LOCATIONS

 

• SILO TOWER
  An architecture ‘marvel’, and the jewel of cyan town. It’s not an especially tall tower, but most of its users need to use an elevator to go up its floors. A lot of small businesses rent out office spaces at the bottom, with business offices higher up. The top floor is now the main headquarters for the Gru Occupation Observation Network, also known as the GOON Cru.

• GALE SPRINGS MALL
  The most industrialized shopping center in the county, boasting clothing stores, food vendors, salons, and specialty shops of all shapes and sizes. People generally drive from all over to get to this mall, as well as to pick up an ice cream cone while relaxing by the large, glorious fountain. It's recently been permanently dyed pink by the aliens, but most agree it better suits the interior design anyway.

• THE NEAPOLITAN
  One of the many hotels in Larkspur, it is the biggest and most notable. With its posh furnishings and sleek interior design, the establishment hosts many of Printy County's finest guests, such as state politicians and writers. Business turns as fast as the weather, but with the recent alien presence, more and more people have been checking in to witness the strange occurrences. Let's just hope they check out in time...

• FLEMING HOSPITAL
  The largest (and only) hospital in Printy County. Serving as a research institution and surgery center, the hospital prides itself on having a number of highly skilled doctors available for specialized procedures. Due to their limited resources they prefer to take priority on long-term cases, but their ICU and Emergency Rooms are always available to those in need. Since the arrival of the Gru, their staff has been ethically divided between those that do and do not accept their support, leading one wing to be a research division for those embracing the alien technology, and another wing buckling down for the preservation and operation of traditional medicine.

LOCAL BUSINESSES

• SKY HALL
  A dance hall that used to be the the pinnacle of nightlife entertainment for Printy County, offering light-up floors, fog machines, regular band appearances, and a legendary daiquiri wall. It has since fallen out of glory with the arrival of the aliens, as Sky Hall is now the go-to alien attraction site for alien nightlife. The loss of Sky Hall holds near and dear to many party goer's hearts, who now must either brave the aliens dead on, or head on over to the Hive in Acacia instead.

• MARMALADE'S MIXER
  An upscale bar and lounge found at the very edge of the financial district downtown. The prices are ruthless to its customers, but the high-ceiling windows and private booths make it an excellent place for a quiet chat, perfect for those looking to strike a deal without hiding behind closed doors. Their always-rotating staff is always dressed in all black and paid to keep quiet, but the walls may have ears for the right price.
• STARDUCKS COFFEE
  A coffee chain that's become a staple over the years with the human population; Larkspur simply has the county's biggest, most prominent one. Ever since the alien invasion came into full swing, though, each Starducks has taken upon itself as an unregulated internet dealer for the residents of Printy County, with Larkspur's being a major hub that practically spills wi-fi. They're some of the last chain establishments not known to be owned by Alien management.

• THE FAE LINES
  Aptly named for the oddly off kilter decor, The Fae Lines is a small tattoo parlor. Offering custom tattoos to everybody over the age of 18, kids are welcome to come in and pet the dog though. Consultations are needed, the tattooist refuses to give people tattoos that they haven't had a good, long think about. She cares a lot about your skin. Drop in piercings are also available.

• FERRO MUSIC CENTER
  The Ferro Music Center was first opened by Dante Ferro some years ago. Having first started small, the business has gradually evolved from just a record store with a few instruments on the shelves, to a one stop destination for Printy County's musical needs. The shop specializes in all things music, from cds, vintage cassettes and records, instruments, musical equipment, and more. They also offer a repair service for instruments and equipment, with experienced repair technicians on staff.
  > Open: Monday - Fridays: 9AM - 10PM, Saturdays - Sundays: 10AM - 8PM
  > Shop allows for special orders to be called in, or requested at the desk. If something you're looking for isn't in stock, or something they don't carry, they will check their online suppliers and have the item sent to the shop for the customer's convenience.
  > Aside from repair services, the shop also has a trade-in program where customers can trade in old instruments/equipment and working cds/cassettes/records for store credits. (Or even straight up cash if the items are in particularly good condition.)
  > If there are local bands looking for advertisement, please see the store clerk. If approved by the owner, the shop will help give exposure and advertise gigs featuring these local bands. The owner is a big supporting of independent artists young and old.
  
• CAFÉ VILLANUEVA
  A homely coffee haven in the middle of Larkspur's most busy avenues, and is the perfect hideout for those who want ten minutes of quiet and peace. Café Villanueva is a cozzy and welcoming coffee shop specialized in Arabic source coffee blends from South America, providing aromatic blends of their own brand to the citizens of Printy.
