Acacia Town

A bustling college town chock full of young people, Acacia is the most contemporary of Printy's three towns, featuring trendy eateries and shops, dozens of bright-colored trees, and of course the university. The last town to be established, it was built to accommodate the students for the brand new school. As it began to become more populated, it expanded with more housing options, businesses to accommodate their needs, desires, and to provide jobs for those needing to work while they enroll. As time went on, more and more adults began to take up residency in Acacia as well, but it's widely recognized that around half of the town's population are students.

Despite its smaller size, it is densely populated in its center; the outer roads are mostly inhabited by busses and other public transportation, and parking is very limited. As a result, it's more common to see people on foot or on bikes getting around town, rather than having their own car. This in turn also generally leaves many students not to venture outside of Acacia, although that possibly might be more of an advantage since the alien's invasion.

The Gru have left Acacia relatively untouched, and they are seen here the least, considering the town's smallest population and lack of commercial industry, making it a strategic location for many Crus to house their bases. Despite those sort of detrimental factors, there are occasional appearances of the more friendlier types Gru in Acacia from time to time. Most of them mostly want to just hang out, have fun, and eat a taco-- the kind of laid back student-culture of the youth of tomorrow draws them in for a good time.

NOTABLE LOCATIONS

 

• KYLES-BRIGG UNIVERSITY
  Also just known as Acacia-school or KBU, located in the town's heart. Has a beautiful clock tower in its center and is noteworthy for having fair tuition prices and great staff. The downside is, because of it’s rapidly growing student population, the student dorms tend to be expensive. Many live off-campus as a result, and the majority of students get around campus by bike.

LOCAL BUSINESSES

• THE HIVE
  A bee-themed bar to entertain all the local college kids; features dollar whiskey specials on Tuesday and karaoke on Saturdays. Not the classiest bar, but plays very mainstream music, has dirt cheap drinks, and is generally avoided by the Gru. Staffing waitresses, bartenders, and bouncers, it's a small, tight staff that's paid about as well as one can in a college town.
• LOCOS STIR FRY & TACOS
  It was once said that God swore Mexican and Chinese food should never mix, but one man had a dream. With him brought this particular blend of fusion food into Acacia, where it’s a surprising hit with the local youth. While the concept is a sin against all things food, the hip packaging and creative culinary decisions has made Locos a hit with both humans and aliens.

• QUILLIN
  One of the more popular bookstores in Acacia and in Printy County in general, it is more recent to the scene but has been quick to gain popularity. The first few sections are dominated by college textbooks and study material for all incoming students, while the back rooms host some of the finest stationery and paper crafts in the area. It’s the perfect spot for anyone interested in some more hands-on writing material.
• BLUE HILL ARCADE
  An family-run token arcade in the downtown area only a few blocks away from campus, its laid-back atmosphere has made it a popular after school hangout for KBU students since it opened in the late 80's, its current owner even having been alumni (who, despite the relaxed nature of the arcade, will come down hard on anyone who tries to cheat his games). With the prize-giving machines in the front and the game machines in the back, there's a mixture of modern and retro to suit all ages and tastes.

• M'S'MOFFLE'S
  A smore-and-waffle shack a block or two away from campus, it's perfect for those looking for unique snacks only desperate college students could come up with. Featuring a small counter with stools aside from the ordering window, it's cramped, but perfect for a quick bite. Even features specialty s'moffles for college students with the munchies looking for a late-night fix.

• PAPA TAFANI'S GELATO
  Established 35 years ago by the namesake Papa himself, it is a homely parlor with a dainty old-fashioned flair to it. The menu features a wide selections of ice creams that can be enjoyed at the small rickety tables the parlor has to offer. For those looking for date spots or simply trying to appease their sweet tooth, it is the perfect location!
