◈ Instant noodles. Easy to make and perfect for lazy days. His diet is mostly composed of noodles or chicken wings.
◈ Leather jackets and plain black clothes, which he somehow finds fashionable.
◈ Alcoholic beverages. He likes martinis the most.
◈ Cruising on his bike. He enjoys the feeling of riding for miles without a clear destination in mind. As a bonus, anything that is not a car is more than helpful in a place with disastrous traffic jams like Larkspur City.
dislikes
◈ Housework; cleaning, cooking, ect. He minimizes the amount of housework he has to do by having the bare minimum as furniture and by ordering takeouts. (or by finding means to let his roommate do it)
◈ Hangovers, headaches, migraines. Explicit enough, and an universal dislike.
◈ Low phone battery, especially if he has to go out with 7% of battery left. Yet he still hasn’t learned to remember to charge it before bed.
◈ Closed-mindedness. He finds it tiring to deal with narrow-minded people.
personality
All in all, Luka is a confident, nonchalant and rather unconventional individual; at his core, Luka is an explorer. He’s open-minded, inquisitive, creative and isn’t ashamed to admit that he believes in the unknown as much as he likes to surrender himself to abstract ideas and crazy theories. He’s highly interested in what the universe has to offer now that aliens were proven to exist, and thinks there’s still a lot left to see. As curious as he is about the world however, Luka doesn’t seem to hold the same interest in people; he’s indifferent towards most and will let anyone do whatever they want as long as it doesn’t affect him personally.
As an adept of the saying, ‘If I don’t know about it, I don’t have to care about it’, to some, he's egotistical and self-centered. While Luka likes company as much as he loves surrendering himself to his own thoughts, he has very few actual friends; one, or two at most if you count his sister, and others are acquaintances with whom he maintains a strictly superficial relationship with. What most likely results from a nomadic childhood is an individual who doesn’t like to commit. Granting his friendship is challenging to obtain, it is guaranteed to be everlasting. Luka is hard to get close to and he purposely makes it difficult; if he doesn’t bother to ask questions or prey into anyone’s life, it’s because he finds it meaningless. Although nice to have around if all you need is a drinking buddy for a night or two, it isn't rare for his relationships to be one-sided simply due to seldom efforts on his part. It’s what he likes to call self-preservation. It’s as simple as that, or so he thinks.
For the sake of his own comfort, Luka is respectful of teamwork and good at setting personal boundaries which he will be rather adamant about. Where he’d call himself pragmatic, others would call him insensitive. Luka is definitively not the go-to if you seek emotional comfort, except if an awkward back pat is what you need. He’s rational and honest, though his honesty comes with harm since he doesn’t hesitate to speak out both positive and negative thoughts, and his tone is often sarcastic to the point where he may sound rude. While he doesn’t mean any harm, he doesn’t go out of his way to seem kinder neither.
Hedonistic to a fault, anything he owns if he owns it, is expensive; or at least worth more than what the average citizen earning minimum wage would like to spend their money on. It is more than about his belongings however, since whatever Luka does is mostly because he wants to rather than because he has to. Any obligation and he will sloppily do it if he doesn’t have his mind into it. For that, he will be more than content with being a freeloader at any place where he can have free or easy access to food without having to spend any effort. Luka is selectively lazy, and to some extent, irresponsible, yet he doesn’t take things for granted. Any spent money comes from his own wallet as he strictly follows the rule of not having to owe anything to anyone.KEYWORDS

personal history
Luka was raised solely by his mother who had never been held in high regards by his biological father; she was his mistress and was quickly left behind after he heard of the pregnancy. For years, she had difficulty to make ends meet, and ultimately his father stopped sending them money. At the young age of seven, Luka was put into the foster care system where he hopped from foster family to another before his father finally agreed to take him in.
His very first foster family was chaotic and messy, inexperienced parents combined with a troubled kid who couldn’t bring himself to accept his bleak future; Luka was soon to be transferred to another family. For two years, he picked fights as often as he could. He didn’t have a mean to cope with the anger he felt against his father, against the world and against himself--he wasn’t wanted anywhere and it made him feel terrible. He’d argue with himself that his mother did in fact want him, still, he was a burden to a young woman who was already struggling with a broken heart. His second foster family was simply bad. They did it for the money; and while he had a place to sleep, he had nowhere to call home. After a while, Luka purposely caused trouble in order to be transferred away.
His last foster family was composed of an old man, his wife and their biological children who were accompanied by two or three other kids like him. They were helpful and understanding this time around; his foster father was a painter who taught him how to paint as a mean to cope with his anger. Whenever he’d feel upset, he’d sit down and paint, sometimes alone, sometimes with him. Unfortunately, the family had to move away due to personal issues, but Luka stayed long enough with them to feel grateful for every second they decided to spend on him. While he expected to be sent to another foster family, he was told that he’d go back to his father. It was a surprise, and not a pleasant one, but Luka merely had a choice.
The first time he met his biological father in years, (it must have been about five years by then), Luka knew his father didn’t suddenly gain an interest in him. As a reporter who was rapidly gaining in popularity, Luka didn’t have any difficulty guessing why he took him back. To maintain a positive image. His doubts were confirmed when he was introduced as the child of a distant family member that they decided to adopt out of pity, rather than his biological son he had behind his wife’s back with one of his numerous mistresses. Later, he learned that his father stopped sending them money because his wife had asked him to.
Luka already missed the peaceful days with his last foster family.
Living with his father was not a bad thing. He had more pocket money than the average kid, a nicely decorated home, and his half-sister was pleasant to be around. But something felt unreal and almost robotic, in a way where they cared too much about their public image to tolerate any mishap. Both his father and his step-mother were authoritative and strict, they were, for the lack of a better word, control freaks who accorded little to no privacy to their children because they couldn’t bring themselves to not seem perfect to the rest of the world. They were maybe too alike in their personalities and their little quirks for Luka’s own comfort, as if they were two pieces of the same picture who was ripped apart and later glued back together. His sister felt as terrible as he did and agreed on his stance about her parents, but she was too scared to go against their wishes while he would rebel whenever he could.
Once again, Luka didn’t have a say in the matter. He had the mindset, but he was too young to do anything. He was only twelve when he moved back with his father after all, and had no mean to earn money so he saved what his father gave him. He did whatever they asked him to, though demands sounded more like orders, until he graduated high school and enrolled into Kyler-Briggs University.
After close to two years of struggle and failed classes, Luka dropped out of college. He could’ve been a better student had he not think of it as useless; he didn’t want to put effort in what he thought of as futile. Part of it was because his father accorded too much importance to grades and put a lot of pressure on him and his half-sister so they could get a high paying job as soon as they graduated. In a way, Luka wanted to destroy the reputation he held in higher regards than his own kids. He had the habit of guilt tripping his children into doing things for him, especially Luka to whom he liked to reminder he gave money and a place to sleep to (but Luka liked to argue that he shouldn’t have abandoned him and his mother in the first place). In short, being a college student wasn’t for him but his family would’ve never accepted him being a drop out.
And ultimately, he cut them off from his life.
His whereabouts were not unknown to them however, as his sister was forced to tell their father about it. She did warn Luka right after, and fortunately he didn’t mind because her safety and future mattered almost more to him than to her. He was an adult at last; his father wasn’t going to bother with him anymore.
Luka spent most of his holidays in company of strangers. He was a party goer who embraced the nightlife, he liked the feeling of being substantially surrounded without having any tie to anyone. As his father stopped sending him money, he had to stop himself from carelessly spending and he began working many jobs at once. He earned enough to move away and settle in a small studio in Larkspur City with his best friend Evelyn, whom he met during his part-time job at one of the many Starducks in Acacia Town.
Nothing much has panned out since then. Luka has had enough money saved to go back to the nightlife he used to know. He got himself a job as a barback in Larkspur City, and after acquiring enough experience, began to serve drinks. Going on a road trip and visiting his mother whom he hasn’t seen in years are both in his to-do list.
extras
◈ He stands at about 5’11”, 180cm.
◈ He knows a bit of spanish thanks to his mother, and a bit of french (which he learned from his half-mother).
◈ He currently resides in Larkspur City, in a small studio made for two, which he shares with his best friend Evelyn. His bedroom is plain, unembellished, with one or two decorative frames at the entrance; pictures of fruits that came with the apartment and which he didn’t think of throwing away. His place is perfumed exquisitely however, with incense and scented candles placed at around each corner. It reminds him of his old home.
◈ Believes in the supernatural, aliens, and the unknown. Luka has a fascination for conspiracies, unsolved mysteries and the likes, while his sister had always been skeptic and strongly doubting everything the world had to offer. Needless to say Luka didn’t forget to call her when news of Printy County being invaded started spreading around; she was mad she lost a three year old bet, and now he thinks it’s time for ghosts to finally show themselves.
◈ Luka’s standpoint on Grus is almost annoyingly neutral. A man of indifference, Luka isn’t against them nor he is with them--as long as they don’t do anything to him personally. If he’s currently on the lookout to join a Cru crew, it’s to learn more about aliens first then fight them if needed.
◈ Doesn’t believe his recent surge of empathy towards both strangers and foes alike is related to the invasion. It simply hadn’t crossed his mind yet; he blames mood swings on stress after recently learning of his father’s whereabouts in Printy County and on lack of sleep. It’d always become worse at work, where he’d be surrounded by moody drunkards.
◈ He starts work late at night, at about 9 or 10pm, so he sleeps most of the day up until one or two in the afternoon. Another hour is for lazing around in bed and browsing the web on his laptop.
◈ Owns a motorcycle which is his preferred mean of transportation. He’s also in possession of a car license but isn’t patient or crazy enough to make use of it in Larkspur City.
◈ Not a difficult person to entertain. He will be as amused reading bad-written and cheesy romance novels than he is chasing after aliens.
◈ He isn’t against dating, but only for fun. He finds it hard to seriously date anyone; it asks for emotional commitment and he has none of it.
