PERSONALITY
sarcastic, blunt, distant/lonely, self-critical/socially anxious, motherly, quick-thinking, polite, protective
At first glance, Aristotle seems to be someone who prefers to keep to himself, but a gentleman. He will wait and hold open the door for people, offer to assist people to their car with their groceries if they seem to be struggling, and uses his manners, mumbling a very faint "please", "thank you, or "pardon me." If one were to keep watching, they would see Aristotle pull bags of pre-packaged food and snacks for his pets from his bag, sit down, and made sure they ate as much as they wanted before moving on, giving the leftovers to the nearby squirrels or birds. He seems to be a rather nice young man until you put your hands too close to Teddy, his chow chow puppy, without permission. Teddy may be a puppy, but Chow Chows would prefer to be introduced by their owners before being randomly touched by a stranger. It's not his or Teddy's fault if you get bit, but Aristotle would prefer this not to happen in the first place, which plays a big part in why he is so hostile towards handsy strangers. A firm, sharp, commanding "don't," /will/ come out of the selective mute's mouth without a second thought if you get too close.
In the unlikely event Aristotle is without his pets, those around him would swear they could feel a negative air. Without Teddy and Cooper, the man is uncomfortable and unsure.. and just appears rather sad and alone. His hands are sure to be jittery and fidgety as a whole. Thankfully this doesn't happen often at all and he can continue being himself, even if he does still feel like something is missing. Those lucky enough to have somehow gained his phone number are sure to recieve sarcastic-laced replies and tons of emojis with his responses. He doesn't mean any harm, really, it might just be an outward projection of the disdain towards himself. The inner thought of "you're too good to be talking to me" morphs into the text message, "Are you brain-damaged? (。•ˇ‸ˇ•。)"
BIOGRAPHY
- A young couple used to receiving bundles of puppies, kittens, or even the occasional lamb on their doorstep are surprised with a baby wrapped in a safari-themed blanket. Not one to turn a creature in need of help away, they take the baby into their care and raise them as their own.
[li]Grew up in the rural outskirts of a large city in Australia. Both of his parents are veterinarians who run their business from their home and take house calls. Aristotle, seemingly always present when a new animal arrived, watches quietly and offers his help when he can, but refuses to talk to the customers. - Aristotle doesn't mind school but doesn't necessarily enjoy it either. Would rather be at home, but passes his classes with above average grades, not wanting to make trouble for his parents. Avoids his classmates and speaks to his teachers as little as possible.
- Not much in his life changes until his parents ask him where he wants to go to college. Saddened, but supportive of their son, agree with his decision to move to the States for his higher education.
- Moves to Printyville County and resides in an apartment off campus in Acacia with his puppy and ferret.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Despite all of the love and attention Aristotle received from his newfound parents, he still felt.. undesirable. He couldn't ask for better parents, nor would he ever want to, but looking at the contrast of their blonde hair and blue green hued eyes to his dark, wavy locks and pink eyes left him feeling more than awkward when their friends would ask who's child he was. Were they taking care of a friend's kid? Did they adopt? What was wrong with him? Why didn't he talk? The couple were bright, cheery, and always happy to talk to people no matter where they went. So why did he only feel fear and anxiety in crowds, or even just the grocery store, reflexively hiding behind his mother's legs when the person his parents were talking to finally noticed him. Aristotle appreciated his parent's forthrightness with him though; they were honest from the start and didn't try to hide anything from him about his past. Now it kinda made sense why he loved the blanket he slept with every night even more. One didn't have to think too hard about why the boy would spend all of his time outside from the time he was able to run around by himself. His home was always busy, which, was definitely not a bad thing! He loved to welcome the new pet that was coming in sick or injured and tried his best to make them feel safe. But when it came to their owners, all the boy seemed to be able to mutter, if anything, was a downcast "hullo" before hurrying off back outside. Thinking about interacting with those strangers made him feel sick and worried for reasons he couldn't explain. Communication didn't seem to fare much better when he was in school either; he would rather do things by himself than with the other kids who called him weird for being too quiet. So, off the little boy went every day, eating his lunch outside, avoiding those who wanted to befriend him for fear of it all being a ruse just to tease him or call him names.. in his mind it was best not to draw attention to himself. Rustling in the bushes with the bugs and rabbits, climbing the trees and attempting to help the birds make their nests were his daily go-to activities during recess. During class, he did his work efficiently and quickly, leaving him time to look out the window and get lost in his own little world for the rest of the remaining time he was stuck in the building for the day until he was able to bike back home and assist his parents with their work. His teachers celebrated his work to his parents, but worried about him. He didn't speak at all to anyone, increasingly avoided eye contact, and would hide in the bathroom during class parties. His parents were concerned for their son; he had always been on the quieter side but they wouldn't force him to do something he wouldn't want. So after a brief talk with Aris about it, he made it clear that he just.. didn't want to talk, and that he was okay by himself.
As he got older, Aris became more comfortable with the simple ticks that made people leave him be quicker. A bit of eye contact here, a small "thank you" there.. It all made his breath catch in his throat everytime, heart thumping with anxiety, but it would just have to be something he'd live with. This simple loop of going to school, playing outside, and helping his parents, rinse and repeat, weren't taxing or boring for Aristotle, even throughout his highschool days. The cycle didn't change much at all and he appreciated it because of that. However, one couldn't blame him for wanting to experience something new, so 19 year old Aristotle, freshly graduated, showed his parents where he wanted to go for college. After a long big hug from his parents, they agreed to help him in his journey to study in the States, silently wishing it would help him break out of his anxious shell.
Aristotle has been settling down in his apartment in Acacia for the past couple months, trying to make it feel a bit more like home. The States were much different from his hometown in Australia; passing through the big city of Larkspur didn't overwhelm him but certainly did make him rethink his decision, even just a little bit. Everything here was new and exciting, but thankfully he wasn't alone. His parents' graduation and moving present was with him the whole way; an extremely fluffy, clumsy Chow Chow puppy named Teddy helped Aristotle calm down and made him focus on something other than himself and his fears. And if that wasn't enough, while shopping for Teddy's usual treats and toys, the dark-haired young adult managed to pick up a sickly baby ferret on what should've been a routine trip to the store. These two certainly keep Aris' mind busy. He didn't have any furniture in his apartment besides his bed but now it was filled with beds and toys for his two most precious pets.
Aristotle goes everywhere with his two best friends, which is no surprise, that, when the large mothership passed over them while on his way to his college class, Teddy's high pitched barking was the thing that alerted his owner to the massive spaceship. His pink eyes drifted upwards and he stood, not in shock or fear, but in awe. So, there /was/ more than just humans out there.. A small smile made its way onto his face as he picked Teddy up into his arms and hurried off to the closest tree to climb and get a better look at the UFO. -- At first he was happy and extremely curious in these new alien neighbors and their own possible weird pets but it quickly melted into very slight disdain. Not because of them causing weird things to happen to his and everybody else's bodies, not because of the weird effect their energy was having on the nature and weather, no. His problem stemmed from the fact that /all/ of these aliens seemed to want to pet and play with /his/ Teddy without permission. Which, in tandem, caused his 'power' to come out; black cat ears popping out of his hair from his anger, tail poking out from under his shirt flicking in annoyance. That didn't seem to help the attention being drawn to the scene; surprisingly, two Gru and a weird silent cat person fighting over a dog wasn't your average every-day encounter. Having all that attention drawn to him.. Aristotle hurriedly picked his pup off and ran off, heart beating and face red from embarrassment.
EXTRAS
- aristotle is selectively mute! this stems from his childhood anxiety that has progressed into full blown social anxiety + selective mutism. he communicates through texting/messaging apps so if he doesn't particularly like you enough to give you his number.. good luck talking to him! he would like friends, but that person needs to be patient and understanding of aris.
- "so what made you move to the states?" "ferrets aren't legal in ozzie."
- the very rare chance you hear aristotle talking, usually to his pets, you will be slapped in the face with his thick australian accent.
- teddy and cooper are /always/ with him. cooper is most always sleeping in aristotle's hood or pocket unless he's eating or getting into trouble. teddy walks with aristotle on a harness and leash until he gets too pooped to continue walking; at which point aristotle will pull a formatted baby carrier from his bag and put teddy in it. best pet dad
- 6'2!
- his parents wire him money to help him pay for his apartment and expenses, however he is on the lookout for a job that suits his interests and will allow teddy and cooper to be with him, even if it has to be secretly ; )
- strong emotions are what seem to trigger his 1st power. chances are aristotle won't even notice cat ears/tail are out unless you tell him
- pls do not pronounce his name like chipotle
- you best believe the blanket from his childhood is at his apartment on his bed, even if it is too small now
- starting to build a reputation for "leave injured birds, orphaned squirrels, baby mice etc. at this residence and he'll help them"
- you probably won't see him eat. the fear of messing it up somehow is too much
