LIKES
[Writing] Writing is one of her favorite aspects of doing her job. “I could type all day!”
[Photography] Capturing memorable and important moments in the world is extremely fun for her; it’s kinda exciting to snoop around. “EVERYONE has to know about this and you know what they say: ‘Seeing is Believing’!”
[Dressing up] She considers herself a bit of a fashionista with her eccentric and colorful tastes in clothes and makeup. “There’s nothing more satisfying than looking amazing while you’re doing amazing!”
[Snorkeling] Growing up in Oahu, Selena has gone to Hanauma Bay multiple times. “You know, there’s like, a WHOLE other world in the water!”
[Succulents & Cacti] Selena loves raising these plants; they’re easy to take care of and she finds them very cute and endearing. “They’re shaped like friends!”
DISLIKES
[Cold Weather] It’s pretty warm where she used to live so Selena is a bit more sensitive to the cold compared to most people. “brrRRrrRRR... Can we get like, hot chocolate or somethin’?”
[Bitter Foods] Maybe Selena just doesn’t have the correct palate for bitter things, but frankly, they just taste plain nasty. “UHH… you can eat that. I don’t want it.”
[Reading] Even though she’s done a lot of reading during school and for her work, it’s not her favorite part of the job; everyone has a thing or two they don’t like about their passion. “NOT MORE READING….”
[Smoke] Selena enjoys her share of fresh air so she can’t stand stuffy smells, especially others smoking. “Hey, can you put that out…? It’s really dimming my vibe.”
[Driving] She enjoys taking public transportation or walking if there’s no one else to drive her around. Although she has a license, Selena tends to get really tired after a bit of driving around. “Gosh I don’t want to drive. Let’s take the bus... it’s better for the environment anyways.”
PERSONALITY
+ Friendly | Energetic | Ambitious | Loyal
= Talkative | Social | Curious
- Tactless | Nosy | Impulsive | Carefree
As a child who was lacking a bit in her family life, Selena Saturn tended to make connections outside of home. She enjoys the company of others and rarely wants to be on her own when she’s not on the job; spending time with others definitely cheers her up and allows for a little more extra energy for her to expend. Compared to an average person, Selena is a fairly hyperactive and free spirit, always bouncing around from one activity to another. She’s never around one thing for too long because she enjoys spreading her wings and living life to the best of her abilities, but journalism is one thing that will stick by her forever. She’ll work incredibly hard for anything she’s passionate about and won’t stop until she gets the job done, especially if it’s to help others. Selena is very supportive of others’ decisions and very loyal to everyone she cares about. She’d never let a friend down, even if she believes that it’s not the best decision for them.
Her curiosity also compels her to do a lot of things, both good and bad. Curiosity kills the cat afterall, but satisfaction brought it back. This thirst for knowledge helps her a lot in her field as she needs to learn about a lot of different things, but things don’t always go her way. Either way, when she’s on the “job”, Selena has to talk to lots of people for her source information. She enjoys talking to others and is fairly social and talkative… though sometimes a bit too talkative.
However, her need to find out every single little detail may be considered tactless and at times, a bit too nosy. Selena pushes the limits on the information she can gather on things that happen or people around her. She pries a lot into other people’s personal lives and usually doesn’t find much of a reason to stop, after all, it’s her job! Though, if someone tells her that she’s making them uncomfortable, Selena will be less forward with her approaches since they’re usually impulsive anyways. Her actions speak more than her words, well at least, the spoken ones anyways. She relies on her emotions and gut instincts over anything else, but it’s rather carefree of her to do so. There are very few things she will take seriously outside of work and she likes to live without any complications. Her lack of responsibility occasionally results in bad decisions and a rather immature mindset.

PERSONAL HISTORY
“Hey, when’s daddy going to come back?” Selena questioned her grandma, sitting on the living room couch, clutching onto her favorite stuffed animal. The four year-old often wondered why her family dynamic wasn’t the same as most other kids; whenever she played at her friends’ houses, she noticed that they all had a mother and a father. The Saturn family was a pretty broken up bunch, but although she lived separately from her parents, the pink-haired child still had her lovely grandmother and close friends.
Since childhood, the hyperactive girl always had the curiosity to ask about anything that intrigued her. Selena didn’t know the definition of fear; it simply was not in her dictionary. She grew up with a rambunctious personality and the drive to absorb all the information she could; not from textbooks, but from personal experiences. There was rarely a day that went by where Selena couldn’t find something interesting to do, be it climbing a tree or travelling around the island.
Selena’s father, Kendall Saturn, was rarely around but they were on good terms and were always excited to see each other the few times a year he came back from the space station. Although he was never around much for her childhood, Kendall spoiled his baby girl each time he returned, and made the most of their time together before he left for work again. To make up for it, the young girl began capturing the most important events of her life and making journals for her father. The two would take the time during warm summer evenings to review over the past few months via these little books Selena made and in return, Kendall would tell his daughter about everything he did at the space station; it was how they caught up with each other’s lives.
After years of carefully recording things about her own life, Selena realized she had quite a knack for writing; in fact, the classes she did best in was English. Without hesitation, she decided to join her high school’s journalism club, wanting to participate in spreading media and just the tidbits in life that she was invested in writing about. Those days were truly blissful and when her passion for journalism was ignited.
However, as Selena got older, so did her grandmother. It wasn’t before long that the natural cycle of things on Earth had separated a grandmother from her beloved granddaughter. Tears were shed, but Selena had known for years that their time together was coming to an end due to some incidents where her grandmother had to be hospitalized. But Selena was still a high schooler, she soon found residence with her aunt, Rhea, who lived in Phlox.
Maybe what Selena needed was a fresh breath of air; she didn’t know what Printy County had to offer but she was determined to make it work. Selena spent her remaining year in high school in Phlox and moved to Acacia Town to attend University, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Communications. Afterall, she figured that if she was going to do something for the rest of her life, it’d have to be the very thing she loved.
After graduating and getting a Bachelor’s in Journalism, Selena moved Larkspur City and started a blog for herself, possibly even a newspaper catalogue. It wasn’t such an easy job to make do with but she surely enjoyed it; she was just waiting for something exciting to happen. As if some higher being were to grant her wish, the appearance of the Gru came and moment her whole life had been building towards had come; it was time to make the headlines.
